Crumpled.VerifyOwnership serves Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools site-ownership verification for Umbraco. Configure your verification codes and the right file responds straight away, with nothing to upload to your site's root and then forget.
Easy to hand over, easy to clean up
File-based verification normally means uploading a static file to your site's root and leaving it there forever. Here each entry records who it belongs to and when it was added, so removing an agency or a leaver is a single action.
A Site Verification panel in the Settings section lets admins add or remove entries at any time, without a redeploy.
What it does
Configure one or more verification entries per service in appsettings.json or in the backoffice, and the right file starts responding immediately.
Bing Webmaster Tools
Serves a single shared BingSiteAuth.xml that lists every configured owner's code.
Who and when
Each entry records the person it belongs to and the date it was added, so offboarding someone has a clear remove action.
Backoffice panel
A Site Verification panel in Settings lets admins add or remove entries at any time. Changes take effect immediately, with no restart.
Last requested
Shows when a verification file was last requested by what looks like the relevant crawler. It is a best-effort hint, not a verified fact.
Optional distributed cache
If your site already has a real distributed cache, such as Redis, you can opt in to tracking last-requested times through it.
Get started in three steps

Install
Add the package with dotnet add package Crumpled.VerifyOwnership. Use version 1.* for Umbraco 17 and 2.* for Umbraco 18.

Add your codes
Add verification codes under Crumpled:VerifyOwnership in appsettings.json, or add them from the Site Verification panel in the backoffice.

Verify
Ask Google or Bing to verify the site. The verification file responds immediately, with nothing to upload.
