A strip of recent uploads
A horizontal strip of recently uploaded items sits alongside the usual folders, with See all for the full list.
Open source Umbraco package
An alternative Umbraco media picker that surfaces recently uploaded media first, whether you or anyone else uploaded it, so editors don't have to remember which folder they put it in. It also adds a Recent layout to the Media section.
Editors often know they uploaded an image today but not which folder it landed in. The package answers a community request from 2019: recent uploads come first in the picker, with the usual folders alongside.
The data type's own Start node and Ignore User Start Nodes settings are not applied by this picker. If you need to confine a picker to one folder whoever is using it, use Umbraco's core Media Picker instead.
Recent uploads first, in the picker and in the Media section, without changing how your data is stored.
A horizontal strip of recently uploaded items sits alongside the usual folders, with See all for the full list.
The full recency grid groups items by date, such as Today, Yesterday and This week.
Switch between media you uploaded and media anyone uploaded.
The Media section gets its own Recently added view, for the same reason.
User and user-group start node permissions are honoured, so editors only see media they are allowed to pick.
It produces the same value shape as core's Media Picker, so switching needs no data migration and can be reversed.
Add the package with dotnet add package Umbraco.Community.RecentMediaPicker. Use version 1.* for Umbraco 17 and 2.* for Umbraco 18.
On any Media Picker data type, change its property editor to Media Picker (Recent-first).
Editors see their recent uploads first. The value is the same as core's Media Picker, so nothing needs migrating.
